Windows Live Writer

Hey all,

I’ve just setup the blog to use Windows Live Writer via the Serendipity XML-RPC interface plugin. Hopefully it’ll work ok, and it’ll make it easier to blog stuff. Which means more updates, woot.

Also it makes it easier for me to add some funny photos, like this…

Hehehehe.

Picnic! No, not food…

Hey all, Merry Christmas!

I’ve been meaning to update for a while, but I’ve been.. erm.. busy.

Anyway, I’ve been playing with the Picnic iPhone Theme for a while now, and I love it. I’ve even made some icons myself that I needed.. the forum thread contains everything you need to know! Here’s a screenshot:

Also, I finally got around to upgrading the blog and gallery to the new versions. About 6 months after they came out.

Upgrades, upgrades, upgrades.

Hey all.

So, I’ve upgraded my PC a lil bit. Stuck an extra 2GB of RAM in there, and replaced my X1950 with a HD4850. So I updated my forum sig.

That is all.

qbie goes qnap!

Hey hey,

Finally got my new NAS, a QNAP TS-409 to replace my old HP Mediavault. The MV only had 2 drive bays and I’d maxed it out with 1.25TB, so I needed something a little more expandable. The TS-409 has 4 Bays and officially supports 4TB, 1TB in each bay, although now Seagate has announced a 1.5TB HDD maybe this will rise to 6TB?

Pics here.

Oh, and I had a great time at the Grand Prix last weekend, and met up with some of my friends from the Super Aguri fan site. Pics are on the gallery too.

PC World Pole Position

Today we had the climax of our F1 promotion at work. We’ve had a BMW Sauber car at the front of the store since last thursday, as part of an Intel promotion, and build up to the grand prix. Well, the grand finale was this afternoon, a chance to meet BMW Sauber test driver Christian Klien, have some photos taken, watch him being interviewed by the BBC’s Holly Samos, and for one lucky customer, the chance to win two tickets to the Grand Prix if you post the fastest lap on the BMW “F1 Simulator” (basically a PC with rFactor!)

First Christian set a laptime, he did it in 1:30.xxx. The winner, a guy called Ben who I chatted to a little bit, managed to do it in 1:31.xxx. Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to enter (no employees!), but I had a quick go and on my first flying laptop I managed a 1:25.184! Damn those rules!

Anyway, I had a little chat with Holly, and got my picture taken with her. We had a chat about the BBC’s TV coverage next year, and also a little about Super Aguri.

Here’s some pics!

Media Center Update

Ok, well I’ve just uploaded new pictures of our Media Center PC. It’s running Vista now, and I upgraded the internals to my old Athlon 64 4400+ Dual Core with 2GB RAM, and a GeForce 7600GT graphics card.

Pics Here.

I love the new Toshiba TV (This one).

Good times! :D

Thanks BT….

Well,

I had no internet for 5 days this last couple of weeks, thanks to a huge screwup on BT’s part. My ISP is taking part in the new BT 21CN network trial, and my exchange was upgraded last week. Unfortunately for me, BT screwed it up royally and left me with a nonsense IP address for 4 days.

Thankfully everyone at my ISP was helpful and friendly and I have no complaints about them, they kept me informed of progress, and now I’m connected at approx 3mb faster than before, so nothing to moan about there. I’ll get the option to upgrade to 24mb soon, so I wonder what sort of speed I’ll be getting then.

So, inpreparation for that, I got myself a new router. I’ve been looking for an ADSL modem/router with Gigabit LAN ports for a while, as I have bene using a Netgear DG834G and a Netgear Gigabit switch, but I wanted to replace them with one box. Unfortunately, the only gigabit routers around upto now havent had an integrated modem, so I would still be in the same situation with 2 boxes on my desk.

Step forward, Belkin…

Bought it from work the other day, and actually even though it’s a Belkin product I’ve been very impressed. WiFi speeds are excellent, and I’m getting faster transfer speeds across my network than I was with the Netgear switch!

Right, gotta go, have more downloading to do ;-)
